What is Reiki

Reiki Pronounced 'Ray - Key' is a Japanese word meaning ‘Universal Life force Energy’. It is the energy that is all around us.

The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki” meaning life force energy.

Reiki is a form of complementary therapy relating to energy healing. Reiki is a simple and safe technique for transferring healing

from giver to receiver.

Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch.

Reiki practitioners use their hands in a way to deliver energy to your body,

improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing.

History of Reiki

Reiki was rediscovered by a lay buddha called Mikao Usui at the end of the 19th century.

He knew that buddha had the knowledge of healing and wanted to find out for himself.

he took himself up mount Kyoto where he meditated and fast for 21 days. After many years studying, teaching, and developing reiki

Dr Usui died on the 9th march 1926.

How a Reiki treatment is given

The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is simple.

The recipient remains fully clothed and lies on a couch or sits on a chair and relaxes.

The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near the body.

There is no massage or manipulation and the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

Reiki helps to restore balance and energy within an individual. It treats the whole person, the body,

emotions mind and spirit. It induces beneficial effects including relaxation, peace, serenity and wellbeing.
